Quilting for Quilters
This brings me to another
question. How many quilts are made for
quilters? Maybe this is just my
perception, and I may be completely wrong, but it seems as though quilters do
not get quilts made for them. Quilts are
only made for people who do not quilt.
If a quilter wants a quilt, then their only true option is to make one
for them self. So, if no one is going to
make a quilt for a quilter, how can a quilter making one for them self come out
as selfish? Being selfish for making a quilt
for yourself is a theory I have never accepted, but when put this way, it
really does not make sense.

this pondering leads me to wonder, why don’t quilters make quilts for other
quilters? Is it because it is assumed
that since a quilter can make a quilt on their own that they don’t need someone
to do it for them? While technically
true, this belief looks over the fact that a quilt made for you by someone else
feels far more special than any you made for yourself. When using the gift quilt, you remember how
much time and care someone took, and that you were on their mind as they did
it. That type of warmth is really hard
to make for yourself.
Quilters, despite their ability to quilt for themselves, need to know that someone cares too. Maybe next time, when you’re looking for a project, consider making a quilt for a quilter.
