Pick-Up Twigs

I have a fascination with genealogy. It’s like a puzzle. Figuring out who is connected and how. Learning the history of people and their families. Discovering people’s stories. It all fascinates me. Which is why I tried to make a block that looked like a family tree.

Well, no matter how hard I tried, I could not get a block to look like a family tree. At least not the way I wanted it to look without creating some very small pieces. So, I changed things.

The block is no longer a family tree, but one of the blocks I created while trying to make a family tree block. Also, to go on the tree theme, I used the word twigs, as well as incorporated the game Pick-Up Sticks. Mixing the two, I came up with the name Pick-Up Twigs.

Pick-Up Twigs can be made with 40 2-1/2” x 40” precut strips, plus fabrics for an inner and outer border. With the precut strips, the cutting goes much faster. Like using a chainsaw on very long twigs.
