Show Your Spirit

With the NBA Championship win of the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Olympics currently on, I would not be surprised to see a lot of sports quilts made in the near future.  In Wisconsin I am sure there has been more than one Green Bay Packer quilt, along with quilts for the Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers.

It is highly unlikely Wisconsin is unique in making quilts for their local sports teams.  People all around want to show their pride in a sport or team they love.  Sometimes this can take the form of the actual sport itself.  Using soccer balls and grass fabric for soccer.  Golf clubs and tees for golf.  Fishing, well, that can have fish, of course, but also rods and reels.  Maybe even water or a boat.

If the actual item is not a way someone wants to go, there is also team colors.  Green and gold for the Packers.  Red and white for the Badgers, or more than one Premier League football club.  Some teams may even have just the right colors to have the quilt double as representing a Hogwarts house from Harry Potter.

Then, as with the case with the Olympics, there are the colors of the representing countries.  Many are like the U.S.: red, white, and blue.  Know an athlete representing Great Britain?  Red, white, and blue will work.  Have family in Mexico or Italy?  Green, white, and red.  Germany?  Black, red, and gold.

No matter which way a sports quilt is made, it can represent pride in all the hard work people put in to do what they love.
