Time is Short
Time can certainly get away from a person. You think you have all the time in the world to get something done. Or at least a couple of weeks. Enough time to meet that deadline you set for yourself.
Then
all of a sudden, that deadline is upon you.
Where has all the time gone? What
did I do? Well, I helped clean
gutters. Fixed a window. Worked on more urgent projects. Spent time with family. And just breathed.
That
last one is the killer. We’re all told
to take time for ourselves, yet every time we do, something seems to get pushed
to the side. Something that at the time
we believe can wait, and then, there we are with it due.
Some
would say this is a lack of organization.
Well, that could be true for some out there. Others may say it’s procrastination, or the
ability to get distracted too easily.
There is a point to that. Then
there is the thought the task in question is something we just don’t want to do
at all. I’ve certainly dealt with that
one.
But
then there is the thought that maybe what we are pushing to the side isn’t all
that important at all. That we feel
other things are more important and can’t wait until later. It is at these moments we have to look at
what on our To-Do list actually matters.
For those other things, we must decide if they truly must get done or not. Some may, but others can continue to be put
off, or may never be done ever. Making
this decision could be the best thing you do for yourself.
