I Have Returned
It’s been quite a while since I’ve
written a blog post. Why is that? Well, so much has been going on!
One of the biggest things I have
been working on is my Unfinished Quilt Show. An online quilt show consisting of
just quilt tops. Because I am sure my household is not the only household with
a pile—or tubs—of quilt tops waiting to be quilted. Therefore, they are
unfinished. But instead of keeping them unseen, I’m taking my mom’s idea and
making a quilt show. Every few days a new quilt top goes up on my Facebook and
Instagram pages (@kateskwiltstudio) for all to enjoy. And anyone can join! If
you have a quilt top you want to show, simply use #unfinishedquiltshow and you
will become a part of it.
Another thing I have been doing
is creating a new Kate’s Kwilt Studio website, along with updating this one
(which will remain active even after the other is up). The new site is not up
and running, yet. It’s still very much in the works. However, I’m proud of what
I have created so far. The only thing is, I am wondering if I should use a
different host.
The reason I say this is because I
have been updating my Square shop. As I’ve done this, I’ve found a lot of
features and appearances I prefer with my Square site than I do with the
website I am building. There is nothing to say I cannot have both, but it makes
me think—especially as I consider alternate selling sites—which host I truly want
to go with.
Why am I considering alternate
selling sites? Well, there are some things with Etsy I am not happy with.
Difficulties and rates/fees I did not have when I first signed up. Now, there
are some great advantages to Etsy, so please do not think I am bashing it in
any way. I am very grateful to have a site there (https://www.etsy.com/shop/kateskwiltstudio),
and plan on staying there for the foreseeable future. I am simply exploring
other possibilities, because one never knows what the future may hold.
So that is what has been going on, other than my other writing and life itself. Sometimes things just get away from you. Which is why I thank everyone who kept coming to my site and checking it out even when I did not have a new blogpost to read. I truly appreciate it.
